Brief history: Comes from a wealthy family whose great-grandfather was governor of Rhode Island four times. Arnold grew up as a trader. He protested royal tax and trade policies by writing newspaper articles against the British and joining the Sons of Liberty. He had some enemies both in and out of the service but still had been a brilliant military leader.
