Last Wednesday, Decemeber 5, Philippine police arrested an army soldier who supposedly took part in last week's failed coup attempt, as he tried to board a flight to the U.S. at the Manila ariport. Private Alvin Celestino was caught as he made his way on board a Northwest Airlines flight to Detriot. He had a U.S. visa but didn't have permission from the authorities to travel. This arrest was related to the 14 officials who walked out of their trial last Thurday, November 29. Most of those who walked out surrendered after government forces drove an armored carrier through the front of the Peninsula Hotel in Manila where they fired tear gas and warning shots. The rebels, which was led by Sen. Antonio Trillanes, Gen. Danilo Lim, had both been under arrest for their supposedly roles in the past coup plots. Both had tried to demand Philippines's President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's risingition due to a series of corruption scandals and human rights abuses. They are backed up by cilivian leaders like Philippines's former Vice President Guingona and two Roman Catholic Bishops. However these groups were still not successful in impeaching the President.

The result of all these military coups in the Philippines made the government set a curfew from 12am-5am to avoid another similar situation. In my opinion about this is that instead of working together as a government despite all their economic difference to make the Philippines better, the government is just making it worst for all their citizens because they never get anywhere with all their commotion. That's why there is no improvement being made in the Philippines because all these government officials argue and fight instead of working together to help make the Philippines a better place and helping all those in need. Also to find a way to pay off their national debt.
