It was reported that Philippine troops killed a leading Islamist militant that was wanted by the United States. Mobin Abdurajak was said to be the senior leader of the Abu Sayyaf group in the Philippines. Since the Philippines is mostly Catholic, Abu Sayyaf is the most notorius of several active Muslim rebel groups. It was said that Philippine troops invaded his safe house in Tawi-Tawi, which is located south of the country. The United States offered $20,000 for his arrest because he was wanted for the abduction that happened in 2000 of 21 tourist in the Malaysian resort.
This has been an on going issue in the Philippines. The Abu Sayyaf has been a threat to the Philippines because of its numerous terrorists attacks that it has done in the country.
